About Me

I’m Mel, a Canadian expat who’s called beautiful Cornwall home for the past seven years. I know firsthand the profound impact that the right support can have during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — my own experiences with birth workers during my pregnancies inspired me to step into this work, bringing together everything I’ve learned as a mother, teacher, and healthcare professional.

I’m a birth and postpartum doula, a certified nutrition consultant specialising in pregnancy and a breastfeeding support counsellor. I teach pregnancy yoga and mum-and-baby yoga, and I have specialist knowledge in the biomechanics of birth — understanding how your body’s positioning and movement can help optimise space for your baby, support labour progress, and make birth feel smoother and more comfortable. My background as a radiographer also means I bring a deep understanding of anatomy, the body, and the healthcare system into my work.

I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way, offering a blend of expertise, empathy, and encouragement to help you create a birth and postpartum experience that’s uniquely yours.

My Aim as your doula:

→ Ensure you’re thoroughly informed about your choices and encouraged to make decisions that align with your values

→ Immerse you in an environment of attentive care, support, and empathy

→ Address your needs and concerns with compassion and consideration

As well as being trained as a Continuum Doula in birth and postpartum, recognised by Doula UK (taught by Kaz Woodbury), I am also a certified yoga instructor with seven years of experience and specialised training in prenatal and postnatal yoga (with Sally Parkes). My approach to teaching yoga mirrors my philosophy as a doula — emphasising the importance of tuning into your body and nurturing your intuition.

I’m also a certified nutrition consultant specialising in pregnancy, trained through Oh Baby, Holistic School of Nutrition, and a breastfeeding support counsellor, having completed multiple courses to provide compassionate, evidence-based feeding support.

However much we know about birth in general, we know nothing about a particular birth. We must let it unfold with its own uniqueness.”
